Although the Bears were hesitant and reluctant to give up their shining star Deangelo Williams, the franchise believes that the trade with the 49ers will change the face of the organization for the better. With the departure of their main weapon in Williams and future QB Alex Smith, the Bears look to change their offensive playbook to better suite the versatility of newly acquired Brian Westbrook and speedy WR Antoine Randle El who will be taking up duties as the return specialist as well.

"We are excited to get out and practice and customize plays with the new toys we've just added to our arsenal." Says Bears QB Matt Schaub. "I was sad to see Deangelo go because I felt us gelling together nicely but Westbrook gives us another option out of the backfield and Randle El has been a proven returner and WR."

After the disappointing tie in Seattle this past week, the Bears return home to chicago to battle the division rival Detroit Lions in a NFC North showdown.

This from the Windy City.... Empty Arrival of Williams and Smith

Post  cjok1051 Thu Dec 10, 2009 3:57 pm

Deanglo Williams and Alex Smith arrived in San Francisco this morning and will be in plain clothes on the side line for tonight's game. Smith with aspirations of starting quickly, headed for the film room to get acclimated to the Offense and details of the playbook. While Williams on the other hand quoted former all-pro WR Keshawn Johnson by saying "Just give me the damn ball!"
